Which policies were most remarkable in alleviating the digital divide reinforced by COVID-19?
"Which policies were most remarkable in alleviating the digital divide reinforced by COVID-19?" examines how the pandemic has accelerated digitalisation, motivating the implementation of government policies (in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia) to level unequal digital access in the populace. The project considers how different economics contexts affect the structure of countries' digital policies. The project assesses the effectiveness of individual countries' government policies and concludes by stressing the need for Southeast Asian countries to learn from one another and adapt their policies to the dynamic conditions of our world. The internet has become undeniably integral to modern life, and enabling access for everyone is critical to building a more equitable society. Could– and should– ASEAN go even further and collaborate to close this debilitating digital divide?
