Online Sexual Exploitation Of Children (OSEC) In Asean

Fighting against the Online Sexual Exploitation of children (OSEC) in ASEAN

"Fighting against Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) in ASEAN" examines responses to the issue of OSEC in Southeast Asia. The project highlights the multi-faceted difficulties of resolving OSEC, including limited capacity amongst rehabilitation centers, anonymous cyber-sex users, and a lack of public education. In a nod to the region's active steps towards addressing OSEC, the team identifies the laws that individual countries have implemented to protect young children and prosecute offenders, as well as new AI technologies that offer hope for more effective OSEC prevention. Ultimately, the project offers that Southeast Asia is actively reforming its image as a hotspot for online child sexual exploitation, although more can and should be done.
